Best tone for home playing/practice

My rig is now composed of guitar-analog pedals-boss katana (digital amp)
I would like to have a better tone so it's mainly about upgrading the amp.
I am not sure about this but I was thinking tubes aren't really a fit for home use (to loud for where I play most of the time)
And I was thinking about those amp/cab/mic simulations available today but I don't know that much about it.
What would you guys recommend for getting the best tone possible at home?

Whats wrong with your tone now? That's the number one question you gotta answer to get pointed in the right direction.
