    Default Beta Test the Chat

    Hey Guys!

We are getting ready to do the final round of fixes / features on our new chat before deploying. Now is the time to beta test.

Feel free to check it out here:
    http://members.jamplay.com/jamchatbeta

Keep in mind this is separate from the main chatroom so you will not be able to have conversations across the current chat and old one. Also, all chat text disappears after 5 minutes, so don't fear if you see messages disappearing.

Video cameras should now work in both Chrome AND Firefox, and hopefully in 2017 Edge.

Feel free to post any comments or ideas here. Screenshots of bugs and a detailed description of any problems you have would help a lot.

We will probably take comments on this for the next week.

    Thanks!

Hey Jeff. I did a video using the Record a clip feature. It then placed this video in my folder for future broadcasts. When I click the file folder, the options are rename, share or submit as a question. I wish to delete it but there is no option to do so. Also, when someone plays this clip (when I post it), they hear it play but the video is frozen. This is utilizing Firefox. Thanks Jeff

Was told of rainbows and unicorns in this release yesterday morning however only two individuals appeared capable of accessing the beta. Leaving the nice one at first - in disbelief and then frustration as to why we couldn't all toga to the new party. As for the other one if he's your first choice for testing stuff - I need to reconsider many things. I will plead once again again again after final release for a tutorial for said chat product. I should have received miles points and virgins and free beer for all the help I have doled out over the past 3+ years for newbs and regulars alike. Not doing it anymore. I can't let a puzzle go unsolved, my cross maybe. But time spent away from the purpose of my subscription it was. Sorry if i sound like a dick but I did help, in the present here and now at the time, when you folks didn't. Ask the regulars they know. Have a peachy keen double rainbow day

The reason people couldn't get in is because someone was passing around the wrong link. You need to click the link up top. We will film a tutorial, because that's a good idea.

I talked to Matt. These just auto delete after 7 days (for the chat) so no need to worry about it.

Hey slighter - Jeff came into the chat and gave us the proper link. It's the same as the one in his post above but I bookmarked it for myself.

We were all using it last night. Still one or two things they need to fix but overall a thumbs up from me. We were using cams in Chrome and some people firefox. Don't know if anyone has tried ie or this edge thing yet. Oh - and it apparently works on mobile devices now. Very little lag - awesome video and audio quality. Chub cammed in from Latvia - almost no lag and great quality. Tele and I tried a chatjam but either there is still either too much lag or one of the players is too much of a moron with guitar (I'll let you guess which one - lol). The potentially most useful thing though was when people started using the video yourself and post it in chat option. Probably the highest quality audio and video feed I've ever seen on the internet outside of maybe google hangouts. Even Cash sounded good...... Hopefully we can use it to show teachers our questions because the lag really is horrible there.....

Anyway - come on in - the water's fine!

I was able to enter the new chat room without being logged in to jamplay. I'll try it again later after rebooting (which I believe I have said to automatically clear my browser cache) and let you know. Thought that might be an important thing to tell you about.

    Yep - no paywall.

Does this mean all the fun goes away when you fix that???? (sad smiley face)

Default Beta is a nice improvement

I like the Beta! Very nice. My camera now works in Chrome using Windows 10 before the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

I think the Green or Yellow Stripe on the left of the User List, that shows if the user's focus is in the chat (when it's green) or elsewhere (when it's yellow) is useful. The controls available to the person broadcasting are useful as well. The private chat is also useful now.

We have noticed that users become ghosts after some time. By this we mean that our names disappear, even though we can type messages into the chat. Our method of fixing this is to log out and back in.

The scrolling is a bit bizarre and seems unpredictable.

I would suggest replacing the text "Say something brilliant" with "Type your text message here" since most of us are likely to say something brilliant just once or twice in our lifetimes, and in the case of the regular night JamChat crew, we are likely to say something brilliant once or twice in the Universe's lifetime.

All in all, this is a nice improvement. Thank you. Pass on the thanks to Matt K when you get a chance.

Default Number of Users watching the Cam Needs to be Visible to the Person on Cam

Another bug or feature -- When you are on cam, you can't see the number of users watching--but everyone else can. Why not let the person on cam know how many are watching? Even better would be a message in the chat area (in another color perhaps) saying which user is watching.
