Default Another David Walliamnn inspired song

I've been away on holiday last week in the wilds of the Scottish Highlands. No internet and no guitar. But I took a disc of David Wallimann Backing Tracks to try to compose at least one song and to practice my dodgy singing.

One of the Aeolian Backing Tracks worked, for me, some magic happened, and this song arrived. I wish the singing was better as the subject of the song means a lot to me, but I just need to keep practicing.

Tnank you again David for helping to de-mystify modes so much and for giving me the means to try and express some real feelings through my music.

I just hope the recipient of the feelings of the song likes it once I get the nerve to play it to her!

Good job Viking...I like the mood and the vocals remind me of David Bowie.

Thanks Snowdog. Fortunately it was well received - well, she didn't laugh out loud!
David Wallimanns backing track helps it sound a lot better though. Sorry I mistyped your name in the thread title David.

Thanks too T Russ. That's the second time since I started making my vocal "skills" ( ) public in March this year that David Bowie's been mentioned. I'm trying to improve my breath control so the pitch doesn't waver so much and so I can hold a note a bit longer. At least with a guitar you can buy a better one to sound a bit better. Can you buy vocal chords on e-bay?

Thank you David - I get a lot of inspiration from your tracks - it's rare to find backing tracks with a real mood to them.

I was wondering with those of you that have commented and any others still to comment - I have had a suggestion from a player on-line with better recording skills and experience than me for "improving" the vocal. I have had a go at following his advice and have a Boxnet link below. I would be keen to know whether the feeling is that the vocals are improved by it or not?

I absolutely love it when you post a new song. I look forward to each of them. You've certainly done a splendid job with this one.
BTW your voice sounds great in my opinion and matches the mood of the piece perfectly.

    Keep up the good work.

Thanks very much for your encouragement axlerod and scripteaze - it was well timed . I've just hit the after holiday doldrums musically - can't settle to anything, can't concentrate and no inspiration.

Your words have cheered me up a bit.

EDIT : I did end up having yet another go at mixing - I wasn't happy with the original version on soundclick or my box.net attempt. I'm more convinced with the vocal balance in the final attempt:-
