    Hi there

Whats the Easy way to fret a B chord?

Or should I just use a B flat?

    Hey friendl,

I find the easiest method for me is to use my index finger to bar the 1st and 5th strings on the second fret, then bar the 2nd - 4th strings on the fourth fret with my ring finger. I don't worry about the first string ringing out; if it does, that's great, if not, no worries. I find using my middle, ring, and pinky fingers to hold down the 2nd, third, and fourth strings to be the hardest method. Another option is to use the F bar chord shape on the 7th fret, but that's a long ways to travel if using major chords to begin with.

Anyway, that's this beginner player's best advice at this time. Good luck!

    Hi Friendl,

You could try the B7 shape:

    Low E string - don't play
    A string - 2nd finger on 2nd fret
    D string - 1st finger on 1st fret
    G string - 3rd finger on 2nd fret
    B string - open
High E string - pinky on 2nd fret

If you just want the B major chord without the 7th, then rest your 3rd finger lightly on the G string so it does not sound.

    Hope this helps.

    JH
