Default Status of the New JamChat -- Losing whatever we type (about 1 in 3 times)

    Hello Jam Play Team.

I'm a huge fan of the latest Jam Chat -- I think Matt has created an application that should be marketed to anyone that formerly used that Flash chat 1-2-3 application that was formerly used. EXCEPT for one major issue, that is causing the usual members to give up entirely on Jam Chat. The major issue, is that sporadically what you type into Jam Chat just doesn't appear at all. As a result, you have wasted your time. If it happens once, we assume it's a glitch and we re-type it. After it happens about six times over five minutes, the swearing starts and then the members leave.

Can you give us a status on when this will be fixed? It's bad enough that most of the regular night-time Jam Chat Community would prefer you go back to the older version of Jam Chat until it gets resolved (and let us use this current version in Beta, where this issue rarely occurred).

Thank you, and yes, it has been reported as a bug.

I also reported a bug yesterday.

WebRTC is not currently supported by Safari (the main internet browser for Mac computers) so you cannot see or hear anyone who broadcasts in JamChat. I installed Google Chrome yesterday and now have to use that when viewing any of the regular chat sessions (such as Eve Goldberg yesterday).

This isn't a bug perse and won't change unless Apple implements support for WebRTC.

Maybe 'bug" was the wrong word. :-)

Just wanted to put it out there for other Mac users that they need to install an alternate browser if they wanted to see or hear anything broadcast in JamChat. I missed out some sessions for a few weeks and then went to the WebRTC site to find out it wasn't supported by Safari.

Note this doesn't apply to the various Live courses (such as Guitar 104 etc) - just teacher/student broadcasts in the JamChat sessions.

Screw Apple - not the point of discussion in this thread - not everyone succumbs to iSheepledom. Man that pisses me off. Pay attention to the thread header.

the non responsive text does however become infuriating.

I love what you all have done with the chat but this base function not functioning just kills the entire experience.

you answered the not relative question - answer the OP's query

Apologies Slighter - I came to the thread from the JamPlay front page, where all it shows is Status of the new JamChat, so I thought it was a general thread for issues related to JamChat.

    Apologies for wasting your time.

I'd answer if it I could, but I can't. Matt is working on it and if he provides me information I'll pass it along.

I spend a good deal of time in the chat so I can't tell if this is something that just happens late night a LOT or what, because I can't make this happen during regular hours.

Does anyone else have this in the day?

I think it starts to happen if you are chatting a lot. Some instructors also seem to have had the problem also (Steve Eulberg?). Sometimes it helps if you click somewhere in the chat page. Then you can type again.

Hope that helps Matt with his diagnosis.

Can anybody get some screen grabs of this occurring? Like Jeff I've not seen this happen. It would be a lot easier to diagnose and correct if we had a video showing what's going on when this happens and exactly what it looks like.

I'm using Safari too (just tried to access JC after brief hiatus) and getting same message. Is installing Chrome the best solution?
